The McGuffin is Online

Like daughter, like mother, like father

It always astounds me at how much alike our children are to us. We sit there and say, oh look she has your eyes, or my nose, or your mom’s ears. But when it comes to negative personality traits, we always assume that it is the other person’s fault.

The little girl has a pig headed stubborn attitude like she can and do anything that she wants, which I attribute to her mother, the mother attributes this to me. All in all the little girl genetically is predisposed to certain things, but I think a lot of her make up is also what she sees around her. So we, as her parents, need to keep certain things in check.

The little girl is in time out for at least the next 45 minutes, she has already been there for about 15. She has had a chip on her shoulder since waking up. I cooked her breakfast and she has been whiny ever since. We were supposed to go to Home Depot get some lights and some other little errands, but due to the fact she wants to act like a poo poo head I am going to sit back and wait her out. Today is -0- Tolerance Sunday.

Her parent teacher conference went really well, she is in the top 2% of her grade academically. Not only is she smart, but all of the kids know that she is smart, and she knows she is smart. The teacher basically outlined it, academically she is not an issue, socially she has a few kinks, the term “Drama Queen” is the one that stands out. Seeing how she is and linking the term “Drama Queen” to that is very easy to do. She is spoiled beyond belief with us.

It is not that she is a problem, she is actually a really well adjusted little girl and smart as hell, but I am hoping to dear god that we can “fix” this attitude of hers, even slightly before it grows into something that becomes unmanageable in her teenage years which we can already tell will be difficult.
