Yankee$ Win… The Yankee$ win!!

I love tradition in baseball, I love the fact that it is man against man, out by out, till there is a winner at the end of the day. I like the science of the game, I like the pitching of the game, I love the hitting of the game. I love the game itself. It is painfully boring to go through 162 games, but the post season is where it is at. I loved every Divisional Series, the Dodgers – Phillies and the Angels – Yankees.

After the Yankees won the world series about an hour and a half ago, I am still not awestruck or even remotely caring. I mean there are world series memories that I have, Joe Carters bottom of the 9th walk off home run to win it for the Blue Jays. The FL Marlins guy whose name is escaping me at the moment getting a hit against the Cleveland pitcher which basically won the Marlins the World Series. Luis Gonzales hitting a blooper against the Yankees winning the world series for the Diamondbacks.

The Yankees are being paid more money than probably the entire roster of MLB teams right now. I mean they should win. There win was nothing special. It was… kinda boring actually. The first time I can say I watched people celebrating a world series and there really was no passion or excitement, it was boring.

The Yankees are the perfect example of why there should be a salary cap of some sort in baseball. It is ridiculous that the big market teams win almost year in and year out. It is almost like the BCS, where non BCS schools have a limited window and shot at the title game, but everything must fall perfectly right for them to be even considered.

Though the Yankees are good for baseball, they are also bad… They keep taking players away from other teams and signing them to contracts that nobody can match keeping the talent pool in one place. What about Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Washington DC? These markets are dying, just so Steinbrenner can get a few extra dollars.
